How Our Pricing Works

Most owners don’t mind paying for good accounting. What they mind is not knowing what it will cost, and opening an invoice that is bigger than they expected.

So we set our accounting fees in a simple, two-part way. The work every business needs each year sits on one fixed monthly package. Anything beyond that is quoted upfront, in writing, before we start. You always know the price before the work is done, and there are no surprise bills.

Accounting fees you can see before you commit

One fixed monthly package

Tax returns and financial statements, BAS and IAS, tax planning and ASIC compliance for every entity in your group. One amount, every month, agreed upfront.

Everything else quoted upfront

When you need more, we scope it and give you a written price first. There is no open-ended hourly billing.

No surprise bills

The price you agree is the price you pay. If the scope changes, we tell you and agree the change before doing the extra work.

Part one: your fixed monthly compliance package

This covers the core compliance for every entity in your group:

  1. Tax returns and financial statements for your companies, trusts and partnerships, plus the owners’ returns as part of the group. See company tax returns.
  2. BAS and IAS, prepared, reviewed and lodged monthly or quarterly.
  3. Tax planning before 30 June, so you know your tax position while there is still time to act.
  4. ASIC compliance: annual company reviews, registered details, changes, minutes and resolutions.

One amount, every month, agreed upfront.

What sets the price

We don't publish a price list, because two businesses with the same turnover can need very different amounts of work. Your fees are built from five things:

  • Structure. A single company is simpler than a company, a trust and a holding company working together.
  • Number of entities. Each company, trust or partnership needs its own statements and return.
  • Transaction volume. More bank accounts, sales channels and transactions mean more to reconcile and review.
  • Payroll. Whether you have staff, how many, and how often you pay them.
  • Complexity. Stock, foreign sales, related-party loans, property or a pending sale all add work.

How a quote is built

  1. Free 20-minute call. You tell us about your business and what you need. We tell you honestly whether we are the right fit. There is no charge for this call.
  2. Review. With your permission, we look at your last returns, your structure and your accounting file.
  3. Written proposal. Your fixed monthly package, plus a separate price for each extra you want. Nothing is bundled in that you didn't ask for.

What happens after you accept

  1. Engagement. You accept the proposal and our engagement terms online.
  2. Clearance. We contact your previous accountant for a professional clearance and your records, and handle the handover.
  3. Setup. We connect to your Xero or other software, add your entities to our tax agent client list and build your BAS and lodgement calendar.
  4. Your team. You meet the accountants who will look after you, and that team stays with you.
  5. First check-in. We share what we found during onboarding and anything worth fixing early.

Part two: everything else, quoted upfront

When you need more, we scope it and give you a written price first. Common examples:

The price you agree is the price you pay. If the scope changes partway through, we tell you and agree the change before doing the extra work.

Who we work best with

Most of our clients are established businesses turning over $1M or more, often with more than one entity. We also take on a select number of startups each year where the founder has a clear plan to grow. We don’t take on every enquiry. A smaller client list means a senior team who knows your business, rather than a different junior every year.

Frequently asked questions

Your monthly fee covers all the inclusions in your service plan. If you need something outside of that—like a valuation, tax planning, or business advice—we’ll let you know up front and quote it before doing anything.

Nope. We believe in earning your trust, not trapping you. If you ever want to leave, we just ask for 30 days’ notice.

Yes—and more. We assign a dedicated team to you, not just one person. This means better turnaround times, more accountability, and a stronger outcome for your business.

Because we don’t just “do your tax”—we optimise it. Over 80% of businesses we’ve taken over were paying more tax than they should have—some over $100K–$200K more. Our process finds the mistakes, corrects them, and builds a stronger strategy going forward. Like anything in business—you get what you pay for.

  • Yes, we can support or oversee your bookkeeping in-house or work alongside your internal team/bookkeeper. We also train businesses on Xero to keep your records clean and ready for tax time.

Absolutely. Many of our clients are in growth, acquisition, or pre-exit stages. We provide strategic insight on structure, tax planning, and valuation that helps you plan smarter and profit more.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t New Wave publish its accounting fees?

Because a published price would be wrong for most businesses. Fees depend on your structure, number of entities, transaction volume, payroll and complexity, and a group of three entities needs far more work than a single company with the same turnover. Instead, we give you a written price after a free 20-minute call and a short review, before you commit to anything.

Does New Wave charge by the hour?

There is no open-ended hourly billing. Your core compliance is one fixed monthly amount, and any other work is scoped and priced upfront before we start. If the scope changes partway through a job, we tell you and agree the new price before doing the extra work, so the invoice always matches what you approved.

What happens to my monthly fee if my business changes?

If you add an entity, start running payroll or take on something that changes the work involved, we will raise it with you and agree a revised fee before it applies. Your fee doesn’t change without a conversation. Many clients find the package stays steady from year to year unless the business itself changes.

Is the first meeting really free?

Yes. The first call is a free 20-minute conversation with one of our accountants. We use it to understand your business and tell you honestly whether we are the right firm. If we are, the next step is a short review and a written proposal. You are under no obligation at any stage.

Will I have one accountant or a team?

A team. You get a small group of accountants who know your business, with a senior accountant reviewing your work. That means faster answers, cover when someone is on leave, and the same people looking after you from one year to the next.

Can you help if I am planning to grow, buy or sell a business?

Yes. Many of our clients are growing, buying a business or preparing to exit. Structuring, tax on a sale, valuations and due diligence are each scoped and quoted upfront, so you know the cost before the work begins and can plan around it.
